US Flags Flying At Half-Staff To Honor Local Soldier

American flags flying across Massachusetts have been lowered to half-staff Friday, Feb. 5 in honor of a local, deceased Air National Guard sergeant.

On Jan. 29, Massachusetts Air National Guard (MANG) Sergeant Christopher Murdock Delano, of Middleboro, died unexpectedly, according to his obituary. He was 36 years old when at the time of his death.

DeLano grew up in Randolph and graduated from Blue Hills Regional Technical High School, graduating in 2003. Loved ones knew DeLano as funny, witty, and a skilled craftsman.

DeLano leaves behind his daughter, many relatives, and his five dogs.

“He will be missed greatly and always remembered for his love of being not only a soldier but a mentor and a proud father,” his obituary said.

Services are being held in Bourne.
